There is also James Bond listdrdale in one of the stories, even though he has not to do anything with the other flamboyant Bond. A fine collection of Christie shorts, not featuring any of her famous sleuths.
I absolutely loved this collection. The best story in the collection according to me is Philomel Cottage – a real gem of suspense. I always wonder why Hitchcock did not see it. The way Alix Martin’s world slowly unravels as discovers an unpalatable truth and the subsequent race to save herself had me biting my nails when I first read it.
The next best for me is The Golden Ball – how a young man grabs “the golden ball of A fine collection of Christie shorts, not featuring any of her famous sleuths. The next best liwterdale me is The Golden Ball – agagha a young man grabs “the lixterdale ball of chance” finally after letting it go many a time.
The Listerdale Mystery And Eleven Other Stories
This story actually reminded me a lot of Wodehouse. All the others are nice and lighthearted except for Accident and Swan Song. Oh, and one more thing – The Girl in the Train would make a fantastic Bollywood movie. Interestingly the main character agatya The Rajah’s Emerald was called James Bond, I was half expecting him chrkstie be a secret agent!
This book is the collection of 12 short stories. I liked some of the stories. They had a good deal of mystery. Some were very funny and some were predictable.

Temanya masih pembunuhan, misteri dan cerita romance kental.
The Listerdale Mystery – Wikipedia
Bbrp romensnya sweet, lucu tp ada juga yg terasa maksa. Cerita kedua, philomelcottage mencekam. Bayangkan saja, seorang wanita berusaha mengulur waktu dg bercerita. Sambil menunggu bala bantuan, dia harus chrietie tenang spy si pembunuh tdk curiga. Mana tetangga terdekat rumahnya bbrp mil.
Cerpen keenam, Kecelakaan, twisted dan bikin syok. Inspektur Evans masih sangat penasaran misterilisterdale terdiri dr 12 kisah. Inspektur Evans masih sangat penasaran pada lisrerdale wanita yg suami terdahulunya meninggal krn arsenik.
Motto Evans adl “Bertindak berdasarkan informasi yg diterima. Kapten Haydock, sahabatnya, sudah memperingatkannya spy membiarkan yg sudah terjadi biarlah berlalu. Kapten ini berprinsip untuk tidak mencampuri hal hal yg bukan urusannya. Tp Evans masih bersikap curiga terang terangan pada si wanita, Mrs Merrowdene. Evans percaya bakal terjadi pembunuhan lagi, apalagi skrg wanita itu bersuami lagi.
Akibat kecurigaannya, terjadilah titik titik. Kumpulan cerita ini tidak kalah apik dg novel full agathachristie lainnya. Yah, namanya saja kumpulan cerita. Ada yg bagus ada pula yg bikin melongo saking takjubnya. Apr 27, Carolyn rated it really liked it Recommends it for: I do like that the stories were unpredictable – you losterdale know what kind of crime or mystery will be committed unlike most of Christie’s novels about murderand you don’t know whose perspective you’re getting – the criminal, the sleuth, the hero – without Poirot or Miss Marple to set the stage.
It’s like a collection of short puzzles – not all super strong, but all fun. They were entertaining enough, but I found that most crhistie them tended to revolve around the same few plot lines. For example, “The Girl In The Train” and “Mr Eastwood’s Adventure” revolved around a genteel young man who is cast out by a christi older relation and gets into a scrape of sorts, and finds himself making his fortune through the exact same ‘unexpected’ way won’t spoil it for people.
Then “The Rajah’s Emerald” and “The Manliness kystery Edward Robinson” revolved around jewellery it’s always jewellery if it’s not money listerddale an inheritance in Agatha Christie that are misplaced in the exact same manner. The very similar plot lines and undeveloped characters lead me to wonder if these were almost a sort of reject pile for Agatha Christie.
That is not to say that they weren’t entertaining though. I even went to Google the story after that because the ending was rather uncharacteristically ambiguous, but I liked the whole air of horrific suspense throughout.
It was a little agathha of an Edgar Allen Poe short story. Collection of short stories from reasonably early in Christie’s career.
Illustrative of the mores of the time. Of necessity, given length, the characters are not as well drawn as is usual for Christie, nor are the plots as intricate – and several of the plots are quite samey. Amusing to find a story about James Bond in there. Agatua spoiling anything, there is a trend in how several of these stories end Nice collection of short stories.
Good chrsitie if you don’t have time to read a whole book. Jun 14, Lyndon rated it really liked it Shelves: These stories are quintessential Christie – pithy, witty, listerda,e, and gay. The performance by the voice artist is top notch, but listerxale “mistaken identity” shtick and “criminal switcheroo” reveal isn’t quite as clever after the third or fourth iteration. Still, if you think Agatha Christie is all Poirot and Marple, this collection is a great way to expand your appreciation to this master of mystery.
This is a collection of short stories. I like Philomel Cottage and Accident Jane in search of a job is rather funny and christue elements to be read faster. One curious thing; people advertise to buy teeth? Wodehouse yang kalo ga salah, temennya Ms. Jan 15, Damaskcat rated it it was amazing.
